ABOUT ANNA
Adopted from a cold, foreign country at the age of four and then moving to the US, gave way for much appreciation and love for all the colors and wonders that nature provides. Traveling from one state to the other, and visiting national parks sparked my keen interest in environmental science and sustainability, doing our part to keep the planet we live on as beautiful and clean as we found it. Not being able to speak English for several years after adoption led me to find expression and communication through art, especially through clothing, which is a fundamental way of how we express ourselves.
Because of these two important aspects, I have honed skills and gathered knowledge in environment and art studies, combining both passions into one focus- designing clothing and artwork that provide awareness and possible solutions to the current human activities that have/can cause severe harm to ourselves and our only home.
After joining the outdoor rock climbing and outdoor recreational community, I saw a lack in total functionality and convertibility, and since then I've had a strong desire to create adaptable outdoor clothing, while still giving the stylish appeal.
Studying Fashion Design and Sustainability at Pratt Institute has helped me realize that what is important to me is to be able to find my own, creative way of helping the community and environment together. Most of my designs have been sourced and made from non-conventional and re-used materials and textiles. From used tents to boots bought from Goodwill, I believe we can re-use already established garments and materials to make new designs while also trying to find sustainable solutions for the future of fashion design, textile creation, and sourcing.
