RECYCLED CLIMBING ROPE PRODUCTS:
Hi! My name is Anna (AH-NUH) and I’ve been creating used climbing rope products for almost a year now! I went to fashion design school with a heavy focus in sustainability because I love combining my love of art and science. I’ve started my own brand because my goal in life (and career) is to contribute to society AND also to the environment which provides us with everything. I believe can achieve that by applying circular design methods (which is the ultimate answer to a sustainable way of consumption) by recycling shot rope that can no longer be used for climbing!
WHERE I GET THE ROPES:
Donations! From friends, family, strangers, climbing gyms, and also some retailers: With most retailers, when you return a rope, used or not, they cannot resell due to liability issues so some companies will either recycle or just throw the rope away. I asked if I could take the rope they were going to throw away and re-use it to make a new product!
WHAT I DO WITH THE ROPES:
I make the outside sheath into products like tote bags, toiletry and tool bags, and I’ve started dabbling in chalk bags! I have not quite figured out what to do with the core but I have not thrown any of it away.
